Carroll Ann Gabel, 63, of Colfax, passed away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 30 at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse.

Carroll was born on March 12, 1954 in Boise, Idaho to Marcus & Marjorie (Davis) Box.  She grew up around the northwest, including Craigmont and Spokane. She attended Ferris High School before leaving school early to obtain her GED.  She met Richard Gabel through family connections and the couple married on May 9, 1981 in Spokane.  She worked as a cab driver for a couple years as well as part of the staff of Expo ’74, but spent most of her life as a homemaker.  Carroll’s favorite hobby was making crochet projects including many blankets.

She is survived by her husband Richard Gabel of Colfax; sons Paul (Augustine) Gabel of Kamiah, Idaho and Dallas Gabel of Spokane; daughters Brenda (Don) Clay of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Stacie (Jim) Gibson of Spokane Valley; brother William Box of Boise and sisters Marian Basil of Pinehurst and Marcia Redman of Kuna as well as six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathy May Gabel.
