DARLENE JENEVA (WILSON) BUTLER

Darlene J. Butler, 85, a resident of Potlatch, ID passed away on Tuesday Nov. 26, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society Moscow Village in Moscow, ID.

Darlene was born on June 25, 1934 at Ball Bluff, Minn. to William and MaryAnne (Van Steenburg) Wilson.  She attended her schooling in Minnesota.

She married Donald Butler on July 8, 1951 and the couple made their home in Minnesota where they operated a dairy farm there.  The couple sold the farm in 1972 and moved to Alaska.  Darlene and the family operated a roller skating rink and Mr. Butler worked as a logger and also worked on the Alaskan pipeline. 

In 1975, the family moved to St. Maries, ID for a year and later in 1976 moved to the Princeton – Harvard area where the family logged.  Mr. Butler died in 1984.

In 1988, Darlene moved to the Potlatch Y where she lived in the trailer court there.  Darlene worked as a dishwasher at Ireland’s Café for several years and retired in 1996.

She was a member of the Potlatch Senior Citizens, and Royal Neighbors at Potlatch.  Darlene also enjoyed crossword puzzles. 

Survivors include, three sons, Bill Butler, Harvard, ID, Roy Butler (Nore) Anchorage, AK, Neil Butler (Cheyne) East Bernstadt, KY, three daughters, Teresa Beplate, Potlatch, ID, Roxanne Hill (John) Bartlesville, OK, Hazel Simeon, Coeur d’Alene, ID., one brother, Fred Wilson, Grand Rapids, Minn.  Darlene is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great – great grandson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Faith Full Gospel Church, Onaway, ID , 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Kathy Kramer officiating.  A potluck dinner will be served at the Potlatch Senior Citizens building following the service.  Urn burial will be at the Freeze Cemetery at a later date.
