GARY JAMES BRUNNER DECEMBER 16, 2018
Gary James Brunner, 62, a resident of Palouse, WA passed away late Sunday evening at his
home from an apparent heart attack.
Gary was born on Oct. 29, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan to James and Doris Brunner. He
attended his schooling in Michigan and graduated from High School in 1974.
Gary joined the United States Coast Guard on Aug. 5, 1974 and was later discharged on July 1,
1978. He continue inactive duty until Aug. 4, 1980.
Gary married Cheri McKindley on April 2, 1977 in Lynnwood, WA and the couple made their
home in Edmonds, WA while Gary was still in the service. After his service Gary attended
college in Port Angeles, WA where he received a Bachelor’s Degree and became a Registered
Nurse in 1985.
The couple moved to Nine Mile Falls, WA where Gary worked at the Veteran’s Medical Center
in Spokane as an Intensive Care Unit Nurse and based on a book he read he built the first
family home. Later the couple moved to Long Beach, WA where Gary worked at different
medical facilities. There he built his second family home, by now he had 2 little girls. A man
of many talents which included carpentry, playing various musical instruments, homeschooling
his girls, raising animals and painting. When his girls moved to Pullman to go to WSU he and
Cheri decided to move to Palouse, WA in 2008. This is where he built the 3rd family home,
where Cheri will continue to reside. Gary also worked at Whitman Hospital and Medical
Center in Colfax for 2 years.
Gary attended the Palouse Federated Church.
Survivors include his wife Cheri, two daughters, Alana Hunter and her husband Doug, Emily
Feehly and husband Shawn, his mother Doris Brunner, two sisters - Holly Schaeffer and Dawn
Brunner–Chaffee.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Greenwood Cemetery at
1:00 P.M.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 pm at the Palouse
Federated Church with Pastor Corey Laughary officiating.
