Helen M. “Sally” Graham
Born the last of eight children of Granny and Dad Nagle of Palouse, Washington on January 3, 1933, Helen M. “Sally” Graham passed away on July 2nd following an extended illness. Sally spent the first 19 years of her life on a wheat farm near the Washington-Idaho border. She graduated from Palouse High School in 1950 and enjoyed reminding friends that the school song was titled, “Plow Farmers Plow” based on the former mascot. During those high school years, Sally met, and later married Don Billings. The couple soon welcomed four children into their lives.
The young family first moved to Colfax where Sally served as the school psychologist’s secretary while Don began a career in teaching. They then moved to Puyallup where Sally would spend the remainder of her life. Marrying Richard “Dick” Graham in 1971, Sally became a second mother to Dick’s six children, and both families took up residence in the Graham family home on 817 West Pioneer. At 817, everyone was welcome and countless “lively” parties and family gatherings were hosted by Dick and Sally. In later years, Sally enjoyed traveling, listening to jazz and rooting for her beloved WSU Cougars. Sally will be remembered for her love of family, fun and friends!
Sally is survived by her four children, Molly Keaton (Pat) of Sumner, Scott Billings (Lori Bert) of Lacey, Patty Billings (Pete Larsen) of Redondo and Ron Billings (Victoria Suryan) of Kennewick and Dick’s six children David Graham (Barb) of Kaiser, Scott Graham (Tonia) of Pasco, Bruce Graham of Sequim, Cheryl Graham of Bellingham, Laura Corbett of Bellingham and Steve Graham (Colleen) of Bothell. In addition, Sally is remembered by her 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Becky Budz and her many friends for the loving care given to Sally for the five years that she lived at Willow Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
A celebration of Sally’s life will be held at the Palouse Community Center on August 11th, from 2-5PM and Linden Golf and Country Club in Puyallup on August 18th, from 2-5pm.
