LOIS ROSE Obituary

Funeral services for Lois M. Rose, 87, a resident of Potlatch, ID will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the Grace Community Church, Potlatch, ID with Rev. Larry Veith officiating.  Burial will follow at the Rock Creek Cemetery, Potlatch, ID with a dinner following at the Grace Community Church.  Lois passed away on Feb. 9, 2018 at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, ID.

Lois was born on July 9, 1930 at Midvale, ID to James and Emma (Hunt) Kilborn. She was the seventh of eight children born to the couple.  She attended her schooling in southern Idaho and graduated from the Council High School in 1947.

She married Fred Rose on Mar. 29, 1949 at Payette, ID and the couple lived in Boise, Old Meadows and Stibnite, ID where Fred logged and worked in the mining towns.  The couple moved to Potlatch, ID in 1952 where they raised their four children. In 1963 the Rose family moved to their current home on Rock Creek where they enjoyed their rural life.  The couple worked together at the University of Idaho for six years after the Potlatch mill closed down where Fred had been a lumber grader.  The couple retired in 1989 and spent years enjoying square dancing and traveling before Fred passed away in 1992.

Lois was an active member of the Grace Community Church, the Palouse Prominators and the Idaho Road Runners.  She spent countless hours volunteering in her community with the Potlatch Food Bank, senior meals, and as a Teacher’s Aide at the Potlatch Elementary School.   She loved square dancing, traveling and the outdoors.

Lois loved life and loved her family.  She knew how to live life to the fullest.  She taught her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to find joy, love deeply, and to always appreciate the smallest things in life.  She loved being outdoors; loved the deer, squirrels and birds in her yard.  She would explore the creek, catch frogs in the pond, climb a tree or catch a ball with the children in her life.  She was an amazing woman who in her own words “Had everything she needed in life and never wanted for anything.”  Although she is loved and missed by many, she is rejoicing in heaven with her loved ones.

Survivors include, one son Dan Rose (Brenda) Lewiston, ID, two daughters, Sandy Woolverton, Potlatch, ID and Debi Dorsey (Earl) Moscow, ID,  three sisters, Verna Peterson, Weiser, ID, Rachel Johnson, Fruitland, ID and Ruth Bolopue, New Meadows, ID.  Lois is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Rose, one son Kenneth Rose one great grandson Brayden Woolverton and 3 sisters, Lanie Grogan, Clara Stephens and Freida Heinrich, one brother Elmer “Bud” Kilborn.
