PENNY PANNELL Obituary

Penny Jo Pannell passed away at her home in Genesee on Jan. 18, 2018. She was the last child born to Clarence Edgar and Frances Rossi Hart on July 21, 1952, in Walla Walla, Wash. She moved with her family when she was 2 to North Idaho, living in St. Maries, Elk River and Fernwood. Penny graduated from St. Maries High in 1970. She married Ronald Steve Pannell in June 1971. They moved to Sylva, N.C., where they had a son, Ronald Travis Pannell, on Jan. 1, 1981. They were later divorced. Penny and Travis moved to Moscow in 1994 where she was employed at WSU. She retired from the Math Placement Department in December 2015. She also spent 20 years as janitor for Latah Federal Credit Union.

Penny collected recipes and cookbooks, was an avid reader and an expert at crocheting. She also loved to craft, and in the summer, you could find Penny on the Idaho mountains picking huckleberries, two activities that she inherited her passion for from her mother. To enjoy Penny's cooking was an experience to remember. Penny's special companion was her dog, Shaggy, a wired-haired wiener dog.

She is survived by her son, Travis, and his wife, Cassie, of Genesee. She was a beloved grandmother to Henry and Adaline Pannell. She is also survived by brother Clarence Hart and his wife, Glenda, of Moscow; sister Linda Brougher of Raymond, Wash.; and brother-in-law, James Brougher, of Raymond, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Patrick and Donald; and sister Georgia.

At her request there will be no services.
