Amy K West, age 43, passed away on December 13, 2018 surrounded by family in her home in Palouse, Washington. She was born in Longview, Washington to Rene (Greg) Montgomery and Dennis Van Arsdale. Amy and her sister Andrea Adler grew up in Longview, and in the mountains of New Mexico.
She attended her schooling in New Mexico and graduated from the Monzano High School in 1994 in Albuqueque, New Mexico.
She married Jeff West on Jan. 7, 2001 at Palouse, WA and the couple made their home south of Palouse, WA where they farmed. Amy was a homemaker most of her life but worked in the Hotel Industry for a while. She worked in a clothing store in Moscow, ID and enjoyed working in horsemanship teaching riding lessons for several years. She also enjoyed helping her husband on the family farm driving truck during harvest.
She loved animals from the very start. She spent her childhood bringing home stray and injured animals that had “followed her home.” Amy’s loving heart always had room for more people and animals that needed her. Anyone who knew her knew how passionate she was about her faith, family, horses and the outdoors. She was known for her contagious joy, compassionate heart, helping hands and fierce spirit.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, archery and especially horses.
Amy is survived by her husband Jeff, their three children Ariel, Sierra, and Tristan, her father Dennis, mother Rene, stepfather Henry, sister Andrea, and a large extended family who loved her very much.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 22, 2018 at the Palouse Federated Church at 11 o’clock with Rev. Corey Laughary officiating. Following the service will be a luncheon.
