BENJAMIN PERKINS Obituary

Benjamin P. Perkins, 47, a resident of Palouse, WA passed away on December 4, 2018 at his home.

Ben was born on November 17, 1971 in Moscow, ID to Randolph and Patricia (Cammack) Perkins.  The seventh of eight children, his arrival was excitedly welcomed by his siblings at the family farm.  Ben attended the Palouse Schools graduating in 1990 where he was very active in sports and was a member of the un-defeated Palouse Basketball team that won the State B Basketball championship in 1990.  Ben later attended Washington State University and received a bachelor’s degree in business - Go Cougs!

Ben married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca (Becky) Wagner, on May 12, 1996 in Farmington, WA.  Subsequently, the couple made their home in Palouse, WA.  Ben started working for Washington State University in June of 2003 and was the Director of Summer and Extended Academic Programs.

Ben was a very fun and loving husband and father.  He enjoyed his family time which often included camping,  boating, riding motorcycles or just making Becky and his daughters laugh.  

He pursued his interests with extreme passion including, basketball, golf, US History, and his favorite rock band; the Scorpions.

Ben had a very gentle heart and infectious big personality leaving all with a smile or laughter, always brightening your day.  He had a unique gift to make everyone he touched feel special and included.  He will always be remembered as a loved husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, cousin, nephew, uncle, great uncle, Coug, best friend to many and friend to all.  All were proud to know him by any of these names.

Survivors include his wife Becky, two daughters, Emily Perkins and Abby Perkins, Palouse, WA, his mother and Father, Randy and Patricia Perkins, Garfield, WA, three brothers, Rob Kirsch, McCall, ID, Brett Perkins (Colleen) San Diego, CA, Joe Perkins (Noel) Indianapolis, IN, four sisters, Chrissy Watkins (Brian) Sammamish, WA, Melinda Harrington (David) Melba, ID, Kim Kirsch, Pullman, WA, Leigh Perkins, Nashville, TN.  Other family members include brother-in-law Zane Wells, Garfield, WA, sister-in-law Georgie Patron, Star, ID, Becky’s mother and father, Les and Shelby Wagner, Palouse, WA, sister Paulette (Doug) Arlt, Palouse, WA.   Ben is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

All are welcome to attend the Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1018 S. Main, Colfax, WA with Pastor: Father Albert Grasher, Jr.  presiding.  Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, Palouse, WA.  A luncheon will follow the graveside service at the Palouse Federated Church. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday evening Dec. 13, 2018, 6:00 P.M. at the Palouse High School Gymnasium.   Bring your favorite “Ben” stories to share.
