Ellis L. Emerson, 93, a resident of Potlatch, ID passed away on Tuesday morning Nov. 19, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society – Moscow Village in Moscow, ID.
Ellis was born on April 13, 1926 at Wenatchee, WA to Roy M. and Rita (Barbour) Emerson. Ellis attended his schooling in Moscow, ID and finished his education at Potlatch, ID graduating in 1944.
Ellis entered into the United States Army on July 20, 1944 and served with the Company B 69th Signal Battalion, serving in England, France and Germany during the WWII. He was discharged on June 24, 1946 as a TEC 5.
Ellis married Marjorie L. Ireland on Oct. 24, 1948 at Deary, ID and the couple made their home in the West Cove area near Palouse, WA. In 1950 the couple moved to their home North of Potlatch, ID where spent the rest of their lives and raised their family. Mr. Emerson worked as a logging contractor from 1950 to 1966. He later worked for the R. A. Hanson Company in Palouse, WA as a welder from 1966 to 1967. In 1968 he worked at Washington State University as a custodian until 1969. In 1970 he worked for Jack Finch Seed Company at Potlatch, ID. In 1971, Ellis worked for Cliff Latham in Road Construction as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1988. Mrs. Emerson died in Oct. 2018.
Ellis loved to hunt, fish, go camping in the mountains and spend time at their place on Lake Pend Oreille with all his family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Myron Emerson (Verlynn) Potlatch, ID, and Jerry Emerson, St. Maries, ID., one daughter, Janet Beckner (John) Potlatch, ID. Ellis is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great – great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, one brother, Don Emerson, and one great grandson, Brayden Ross Woolverton.

No formal services will be held as per his request. A private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date at the Avon Cemetery near Deary, ID.
