Ethel Sue Goucher passed away at her home in Onaway, Idaho on April 8th, 2026.
Ethel was born in Moscow, Idaho on January 4th, 1948 to Leonard & Elizabeth Doty. She was one of nine siblings and they grew up in the Potlatch area.
In 1968 she married the love of her life, David Goucher. They were blessed to have 56 wonderful years together and raised three children. They shared a love of car racing, going to yard sales, camping and of course their beloved boxer dogs.
Ethel loved bright colors, and would often put them in the beautiful afghans she crocheted for all of her family and friends. She also had a love for collecting things. It started with collecting Barbie’s with her sister June and later changed to collecting many different colors of beautiful glassware, usually when her and David were out at yard sales. She only stopped collecting the glassware when she decided they didn’t have any more room in the house. Ethel was also known for her blunt honesty and for always helping any of her family and friends, as they were so important to her.
Ethel worked many different jobs over the years, but some of her favorite times were when she worked at the local grocery stores where she got to visit with the community. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and continued working through her chemo treatments. She was such a strong person. Ethel was also the main bookkeeper for Goucher Trucking, keeping all the finances running smoothly.
Ethel is survived by her children Diana (Ernie) Grau, Rick (Leanne) Goucher and Jim (Nikki) Goucher, as well as three of her siblings Carol Pettibone, Rosemary (Kenneth) Helm and Becky (Neil Manning), 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Goucher, her granddaughter Vanessa Grau, her parents and 5 siblings Arnold, June, Jane, Arthur and Lenny.
The family is holding a celebration of life on May 2nd at 1:00 pm at the Palouse River Community Center in Princeton and invite you to come and share your memories.
