Kerry Brown, 63, passed away on August 7, 2022, after a three-year battle with lung cancer. Kerry was born in Colfax, WA on October 1, 1958, to Arthur and Dixie (Byrne) Brown. He was the youngest of two boys. The family moved to Anaheim, CA and his parents later divorced. Kerry graduated from Katella High School in Anaheim in 1976. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Air Mobility Command as a flight engineer and jet aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He flew on C130s all over the world. He was a Grenada Operation and Gulf War veteran flying missions during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged in 1996.
Kerry then moved to the Phoenix area to pursue his love of Harley Davidson motorcycles. He attended and graduated from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. He also became a certified airframe and power plant mechanic working in the Phoenix area until he became ill.
Motorcycles were only one of Kerry’s hobbies. He also loved music, especially the blues, and had an extensive collection of guitars, as well as CDs and movies. He was also a Ford man and had purchased a 2019 Mustang Bullitt. He waited several months for the car to arrive and really enjoyed it until his illness forced him to stop driving it. He also enjoyed concerts and football. His phone conversations over games will be greatly missed.
Kerry is survived by his cousins Ben and Heidi Elder, Colbert, WA. Close friends/AZ family Leonard Smith and Lorna Berge, Glendale, AZ. Aunt Lynda Slocum, Garfield WA. Cousins Eric and Shelley Slocum, Palouse, WA, numerous nieces, and nephews as well as additional friends in the Phoenix area.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dixie (Byrne) Brown, father Arthur Brown, brother Avery Brown, and uncle Bill Slocum.
A graveside memorial service, with military honors, will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3:00pm at the Garfield Cemetery with Pastor Dean Walker officiating.
