December 13th, 1943 - August 16th, 2024

How do you condense a man’s life into the paragraphs of an obituary? How do you summarize into words, a long full life and the love and devotion that he gave his wife and children? The short answer to that question is, you simply don’t.
     A standard obituary seems formal and impersonal, and our dad was neither of those things. If you ever visited his house, whether you were a longtime friend, a neighbor, or just rolling into the yard for the first time you were treated like family. He most likely offered you a beer of soda and some snacks and maybe even asked to stay for dinner for one of his famous, improvised concoctions that always seem to turn out delicious.
     Dad was born in the original homestead house that stood about a quarter mile south of their current home. It was one of his favorite stories to tell, how he “beat the doctor “the night he was born. Dad spent all but four years of his life on the home place, working numerous jobs over the years, along with farming and ranching. He taught my brother and myself the value of hard work, along with many other things. He loved to hunt and fish and he loved the camping tips he and our mom went on to their favorite place, Lead Point.
     He was married to his loving wife, Janet, for nearly 59 years. He and mom were inseparable and rarely spent a day apart. Their love and devotion to each other set a shining example for all of us, and I know it was something both of them are very proud of. Dad‘s passing is but a temporary parting of their time together and we all know that they will one day be together again and pick up where they left off.
     Larry was preceded in death by both of his parents, Hank and Hilda, his brother Ralph, sister Loretta, and far too many other family and friends to list. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his two sons Garry and Barry, his sisters Gail O’Connell and Margaret Addington, and two grandchildren Braydee and Teagan Greenwalt.
     While there are countless stories to be told and memories to be shared, I think it would be enough for Dad to know that he will always be loved and will be deeply missed by all of us. So until we meet again on the other side Dad, happy trails!
