September 17, 1929 ~ February 25, 2019 (age 89) 89 Years Old

MARY OCHSZNER Obituary

 

Mary Jean Ochszner, 89, a resident of Potlatch, ID passed away early Monday morning Feb. 25, 2019 at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, ID.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1929 at Sturgis, S. Dakota to Grant and Lyda (Weyer) Simons.  She grew up outside of White Owl, S. Dakota attending the country school through the 8th grade and graduating from Timberlake High School in 1947.  She then attended and graduated from Green’s School of Beauty Culture in Rapid City, S. Dakota.  She worked as a hairdresser for a short time.

She married Calvin Ochszner on Oct. 24, 1948 at Rapid City, S. Dakota.  The couple made their home at Rapid City.  Mary Jean worked as an operator for General Telephone Co. for about 2 years.

In August of 1950 the couple moved to Potlatch, ID where they have lived since.  Mary Jean worked as a seamstress for the Spot Shop dry cleaners in Moscow, ID for 30 years when she retired.

Mary Jean enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, fishing for Kokanee at Lake Pend Oreille, crocheting, watching Gonzaga basketball and all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with the Potlatch Sports programs.

Survivors include her Husband Calvin Ochszner at the Potlatch home, one son Dennis Ochszner (Janelle), Clarkston, WA,  Gayle (Randy) Bryngelson, Potlatch, ID,  and one brother, Douglas Simons, White Owl, SD.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marlys (Woody) Therien, Loomis, CA.  She was also preceded in death by one brother, Mick Simons, and five sisters, Beulah Hukill, Hazel Sorenson, Mabel Hodgman, Helen Howie, Sybil Simons.  

A celebration of life with a luncheon will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, 12:00 Noon at the Scenic 6 Park at Potlatch, ID.

Memorials may be given to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, Box 63, Potlatch, ID  83855.
