Virgil Clyde, if you knew him, you knew all about his hardy laugh and infectious personality! He was born in Potlatch, Idaho on December 22, 1936, to Joe and Mabel Clyde. Virgil’s sister Norma welcomed him. He passed away at his home in Potlatch, Idaho on April 7, 2024. In his younger years, Virgil lived life to the fullest and, like a cat, had nine lives. He always said, “If I’d known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself”. Virgil married Arthelia Gottschalk on July 29, 1970, and he welcomed her three children, Dale, Carol, and Bruce and their families. They spent thirty-six happy years together until her passing in 2006. Virgil worked most his life in the logging industry and loved telling old logging stories with his friends. In later years, he enjoyed working at the Freeze Cemetery where he struck up an unlikely special friendship with Virginia. He was hardworking, determined and a bit stubborn at times. He enjoyed anything to do with guns, reloading ammo, trapshooting, cutting firewood and hunting. Family, friends, and neighbors checked on Virgil regularly either by calling or stopping by to chat. He was always up for a visit and a good laugh! He will be missed by many! At his request, no service will be held.
