Harold M. Crumley

February 26, 1922 ~ October 22, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Harold M. Crumley, 95, lifetime Princeton area resident, passed away on October 22, 2017 at the Tekoa Care Center.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26 at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse with Pastor Kathy Lee Kramer officiating.  The United States Air Force Honor Guard and the Potlatch VFW Post #10300 will participate at the service.

Harold was born on February 26, 1922 in Princeton, Idaho to Samuel & Gertrude (Morrow) Crumley.  He grew up in the Princeton area and attended schools at Potlatch.  He enlisted in the Air Force in November 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre before being honorably discharged on Christmas Day 1945.

After returning home, Harold worked for Potlatch Corporation, working both in the forest as a logger and in the mill doing maintenance and construction.  He later became a millwright before going to work at Washington State University as a lead custodian.  He retired from WSU in 1986.  He married Donna Whitehead on September 23, 2016 at Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Harold was a lifetime member of the Potlatch VFW Post #10300 as well as a member of the CCC – Civilian Conservation Corps – helping build roads at Chatcolet Lake near Rocky Point, Idaho.  He was also a member and past president of the Hatter Creek and Flat Creek Cattlemen’s Association.  He very much enjoyed raising black angus cattle when not otherwise working elsewhere.

Harold is survived by his wife Donna Crumley of Princeton; sons Ronald (Karen) Crumley and Gary (Barbara) Crumley of Potlatch; step-sons Ed Adams of Harvard, Steve Adams of Minnesota and Ronnie Adams of Nebraska; sisters Peggy Jean (Julian) Grabski of Napa, California and Janise Stoltz of Vancouver; cousin Melvin (Evelyn) Crumley of Potlatch and three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Karen and his sister Thelma. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Potlatch VFW Post #10300, PO Box 386, Potlatch, Idaho 83855.
