Jerry E. Knutson

May 7, 1942 ~ September 8, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Jerry E. Knutson, 75, of Post Falls, passed away on Friday September 8, 2017 at the North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30 at Calgary Lutheran Church, 1011 N. Compton Street in Post Falls.

Jerry was born on May 7, 1942 in Minot, ND to Clarence & Grace (Vesey) Knutson.  He grew up in Plaza, ND and graduated high school there in 1960.  He went on to attend the North Dakota State College of Science where he earned his associates degree in refrigeration and air conditioning. He worked various jobs over the years, including for the railroad in Minnesota and Koch Materials in Williston, ND.  It was through his work with Koch that Jerry met Jeanne Holst while supervising asphalt projects in Washington. The couple married in Coeur d’ Alene in 1990. He eventually went on to become self-employed as a general contractor in a variety of construction trades, retiring in 2003.

Jerry enjoyed building all sorts of things, including model cars.  He also enjoyed yard work, getting together with family and friends, telling jokes and camping, playing darts and pool.

Jerry is survived by his wife Jeanne at the family home in Post Falls; daughters Brandi (Darwood) Nichol of Norwich, ND and Jana Knutson of Sartel, MN as well as step-children Sean Dyer at the family home; Shannon (Alan) VanCurler of Liberty Lake, WA and Steven (Melissa) Dyer of Liberty Lake, WA. He is also survived by his brother Loren (JoyLea) Knutson of Minot, ND as well as 7 grandchildren - Shea, Taylor, Kadyn, Ashley, Zachary, Wyatt and Ella and 2 great-grandchildren - Taleyah and Addie along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by his father in 1983 and his mother in 2003.

Memorial contributions in Jerry’s honor are suggested to The American Heart Association.  Per Jerry’s request, his body has been donated for study through the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Willed Body Program. Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse is assisting the family with necessary arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.kramercares.com
